Every so often, a band stops us in our tracks. Right now, The Bots are that band.
The Bots include Los Angeles brothers and bandmates Mikaiah Lei (Lead Vocal, Guitar, Bass), and Anaiah Lei (Drums & Percussions, Backing Vocals) who create powerful yet playfully catchy tunes.
The band recorded their first album together when they were just 15 and 12. Since that time, they have self-released three albums. In 2013, they dropped their debut release with the label Fader, the four-song EP Sincerely Sorry, which spurred the New York Times to say, “They are on the cusp of stardom.”
The Bots released their full-length debut, Pink Palms, in 2014. The album, recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Justin Warfield, with additional production by Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, brings together the veracity of garage punk while paying homage to the American blues tradition. Pink Palms was mixed by Michael Patterson (Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G.) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Haim, Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters).
In 2014, they hit up the festival circuit, performing at two Vans Warped tours, Coachella, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Riotfest, Shindig, Afropunk, Japan’s Summer Sonic, Sasquatch, Fun Fun Fun Fest, as well as national dates with Dropkick Murphys, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur and Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, Refused, and Bad Brains. They’ve rocked Late Night with Seth Meyers, a Mitsubishi commercial and released a video directed by the much loved Daryl from The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus. To say The Bots are on fire would be an understatement!
Currently, The Bots are out on tour with the Deftones and we can’t wait to see them at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio on July 28, 2015. Hope to see you there too!!
