The third annual Lima Zombie Walk was held at Faurot Park in Lima on Saturday, October 20, 2012. This year, the Walk included a toxic viral spill theme complete with green ooze, hazmat workers trying to contain the zombie virus outbreak and frantic radio broadcast warnings throughout the event by Chad McNeal of Maverick Media.
In excess of one hundred Zombies and friends gathered at the “Zombie Containment Center” in the park across from Woodlawn Cemetery for food, fun and games. The Zombies then walked to sponsor, J’s at Shawnee for yummy half-priced drinks and a costume competition judged by J’s staff. The winners – a very green zombie mom with a baby doll Rob Zombie and a bloodied construction worker were awarded gift certificates donated by J’s! The Zombies returned to the park for music by local rock favorite, NYN9, even more yummy food and a load of raffle prizes and freebies.
Prizes were donated by zombie friends and sponsors; East of Chicago Pizza, Underthebar Strength, Total Fitness Solutions, and Halloween City.
The Zombie Walk tripled donations from the previous year and ALL the monies raised were presented to Happy Tails Pet Partners. Happy Tails rescues pets, provides foster families, supplies medical treatment and training and adopst dogs out to good ‘furever’ homes.
Plans are in the works already for an even more fantastic 2013 Lima Zombie Walk!
