Night Demon

Sunday, April 9th was a beautiful night in Cleveland. And, I cannot think of a better place to be other than the legendary Grog Shop for a night of ear splitting, head banging, fist pumping metal! It was also the last night of the Night Demon/Anvil tour, so I had a feeling that we were in store for something special.

Starting off the night was hometown heroes, Ground Zero. They delivered a short but powerful set and had a very good sound to warm things up! Next in line, from Sacramento California, was Graveshadow. They are fronted by the beautiful, and sometimes brutal, vocals of Heather Michele and backed by great musicians that totally deliver an eerie, epic kind of gothic metal that includes vampires and even a werewolf! I loved their performance, and was hypnotized by their stage presence and the wall of sound they created!

Night Demon

Next up ladies and gents, the reason I drove to opposite ends of Ohio and also my favorite metal trio – Night Demon! As luck would have it, I had the privilege to catch them the previous Monday in Cincinnati. But tonight was, like I said, special! Fronted by Jarvis Leatherby on vocals and bass, with Armand John Anthony on the ax and Dusty Squires on the skins, they opened ferociously with a couple tracks off of one of 2015’s best metal albums, Curse of the Damned

Night Demon

Then, fans received news of a special treat. Jarvis announced that we would witness, live, the new album, Darkness Remains, played in its’ entirety for our exclusive listening pleasure! The album hasn’t dropped yet and is scheduled to be released worldwide on April 21. With tracks like “Welcome to the Night” and “Hallowed Ground,” Night Demon delivered with the precision and energy fans have come to expect from the Ventura, California metal maestros! They performed each track flawlessly as I was trying to take in all the catchy riffs and screaming choruses that were filling my virgin ears! These guys are the real deal on stage, and just as classy off stage. Since Night Demon erupted onto the underground heavy metal scene with their self-titled four-song EP in 2012, they haven’t stopped climbing. They are the New Wave of American Heavy Metal and I look forward to seeing them rise to the top of the metal world!

Last but not least, the legendary and iconic, Anvil! They powered through a set spanning a career of damn near 40 years and proved they can still rock with the best! Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Rob Reiner were clearly having fun, and it translated in their performance which made it a blast for fans. The two best pals in metal, together with Chris Robertson on bass, proved why Anvil is finally getting the respect they deserve! They are the true definition of metal gods, and I want to thank them for everything they stand for!

Anvil

This was a phenomenal show and you should definitely check out all of these bands on tour and pick up some merch to show your love and support!

Anvil

That wraps it up boys and girls, until next time, keep them horns up and I will see you in the pit!
